For a horse comfortable over middle distances, Wissahickon boasts a potent turn of foot and it is that change of gear which has extricated John Gosden’s four-year-old from a couple of uncompromising positions in his career to date.

Wissahickon holds all the aces and should have too much quality for his stablemate Court House who was three lengths in arrears in the Winter Derby.

There are some competitive handicaps elsewhere which are more conducive to punting and BIG KITTEN (Newcastle, nap, 3.55) may reward an investment at Gosforth Park.

Formerly trained by Mark Johnston, the four-year-old has been gelded since last seen, comfortably winning a 10-furlong handicap at today’s venue last November.

That win took his track record to 2-3 and he has reportedly been targeted at this race for much of the winter.
