Defi Du Seuil scored his second Cheltenham Festival success as he got the better of old rival Lostintranslation in the JLT Novices’ Chase.

Philip Hobbs’ 2017 Triumph Hurdle hero, out of form throughout last season, has been a revelation over fences after a sticky start to the current campaign at this course.

Defi Du Seuil was also beaten by Lostintranslation in the Dipper Novices’ Chase at Cheltenham on New Year’s Day.

But having since gained revenge at Sandown, in the opening race on day three of the Festival, the six-year-old justified 3-1 favouritism under Barry Geraghty.

He pounced on long-time leader Lostintranslation at the last and staying on to win by two and a quarter lengths. 

Winning jockey Geraghty told ITV Racing: ‘(They are) two really good horses, I was banking on a big one at the last and he came up trumps.’
